The Late Summer Refresh

As the dog days of summer stretch on, we naturally start to long for the coolness of autumn and the cozy respite that it brings. Here in Tennessee the summers are hot, humid and often drag on till September and beyond. So by the end of July, we’re dreaming of pumpkins and football season, eagerly anticipating the first signs of fall. So how can you add a few subtle fall touches, while still savoring the last moments of summer? Well, these are a few of our favorite finds for a late summer refresh...

If you’re not quite ready for pumpkins and gourds you can always start with a few sunflowers. Fresh sunflowers make a stunning display in any room, but even faux sunflowers or printed textiles can pack a similar punch. The warm golden blossoms will blend nicely with your full blown fall decor, and make a perfect accent to your Thanksgiving displays as well. Adding small decorative items like table runners, toss pillows and tea towels will refresh your space easily and affordably. Garden and nature motifs also work well for late summer. Incorporating earthy shades of green and brown bring a subtle warmth and richness to your late summer decor.
